Highlights:
Muhlenberg lost its coach, its star player and then the game.
But the Muhls have a chance to rebound from Tuesday’s 46-38 loss to Lebanon in a District 3-AAA girls basketball PIAA qualifier at Penn Manor High School.
With seven teams advancing to the state tournament, Muhlenberg still can qualify with a win Thursday over Shippensburg in the seventh-place game at a site and time to be determined. Shippensburg suffered a 63-41 loss to Gettysburg.
The top-seeded Muhls (22-6) missed out on this shot to reach the state tournament when coach Reggie Weiss was ejected after getting his sec-ond technical foul with 1:53 left in the first half.
Weiss was arguing with officials, who whistled three fouls on leading scorer Rachael Graeff in the first half to force her to the bench. Graeff eventually fouled out with 4:19 left after scoring just six points.
The score was tied 16-16 late in the second quarter when Weiss was called for a double-technical. The 13th-seeded Cedars (21-9) made all four foul shots to take a 20-16 lead and built that to 23-17 by halftime.
The Muhls, who were led by Ashley Duffy with 15 points, scored just six points in the third quarter to fall behind 33-23.
Megan Strohman led a balanced Lebanon offense with 16 points. Ab-bey Leibig scored 13 points and Megan Snook scored 10.
