Highlights: Patrick Walker scored 12 points and Matt Long had 11 to lead a balanced scoring effort as third-seeded Trinity defeated top-seeded Kutztown 53-43 in the District 3 Class 3A championship game at Giant Center tonight.

The championship was the fifth straight for the Shamrocks (18-5), who led by as many as 18 points midway through the final quarter.

The Cougars (20-4) fell behind 6-0 after 90 seconds and trailed 20-6 after one quarter; they never got closer than 10.

Berks scoring leader Lorencz Jean-Baptiste was held to three first-half points and nine overall. Brayden Eck led Kutztown with 12 points.

The Cougars head to the PIAA Tournament next week, where they will open play against the third-place finisher from District 12 on Saturday, March 10.

The appearance in a district boys basketball final was the first for Kutztown since 1985.
