Highlights: Luis Garcia scored a game-high 15 points and hit both ends of a critical one-and-one as Berks Catholic held off Pottsville 34-30 in a fiercely contested non-league game at Wolf Gymnasium.

The Saints came from six points down early in the second half to win their season opener. They beat the Crimson Tide (1-1) for the third straight season.

Garcia sparked a 9-0 run, scoring eight of the points, that gave the Saints their first lead at 25-22 after three quarters.

His two free throws with 13.7 second left gave the Saints a 33-30 lead, and after a turnover Casey Jack hit the back end of a double-bonus with 8.5 seconds left to seal it.

Mason Barnes scored a team-high 14 points for Pottsville.

Kyran Mitchell had eight points and five rebounds for the Saints.

Berks Catholic trailed 14-12 at the half.
