James Buchanan at Conrad Weiser

Val Miller struck out 11 batters with no walks in a complete-game two-hitter as Conrad Weiser blanked James Buchanan 3-0 in a District 3-AAA quarterfinal playoff at Carlisle. She allowed an infield single to the leadoff batter in the first inning plus a single in the seventh, and was perfect in between. The No. 4 Scouts (20-3) took the lead over the No. 5 Rockets (18-5) in the second when Madison Potthoff scored on a wild pitch. Aarika Ferko later scored on an RBI single by Emma W. Price to make it 2-0. In the fifth, Weiser added an insurance run when Brianna Pichler doubled and later scored on an RBI single by Rachel Turco. Miller also went 3-for-4 to lead the offense for Conrad Weiser, which advances to take on top-seeded Donegal (22-3) Tuesday in the semifinals.
