Highlights
Maddie Shies struck out 10 Tuesday to help visiting Tulpehocken to an 8-2 win over Delone Catholic for the school’s first District 3 softball playoff win in more than 30 years.
The fifth-seeded Trojans (15-7) limited the fourth-seeded Squirettes (13-5) to a pair of runs in the second inning to advance to the 3A semifinals to face top-seeded Brandywine Heights Thursday at 4 p.m. at Lyons.
Kayla Paulson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Stacy Martin went 2-for-4 and scored two runs for Tulpehocken.
The Trojans capitalized on Delone errors to score three runs in the second inning and take the lead for good.
