Berks Catholic at Kutztown

At Kutztown, Berks Catholic clinched the Berks III title with a win over Kutztown that featured a pitching duel between the Saints’ Trevor Leamer and the Cougars’ Matthew Angstadt, each of whom threw a complete game. Leamer struck out six and allowed four hits in the shutout victory. Angstadt yielded just two hits and fanned five. The Saints (9-0, 12-2) scored the game’s only run in the fourth inning via a hit-by-pitch and a subsequent stolen base by a courtesy runner, followed by a passed balled and a ground out. Kutztown (7-2, 11-6) was unable to score after loading the bases in the third, and was unable to convert in the fifth after starting the inning with runners on first and second. Outs were made on a double steal attempt and on a pickoff.
