Highlights:
Austin Rosa’s 33-yard, first-half fumble recovery for a touchdown highlighted a brilliant defensive effort as Wilson defeated Central Dauphin 21-10 in the District 3-AAAA championship game at Hersheypark Stadium.
The Bulldogs (14-0) advance to meet Pine-Richland (14-0) next Saturday at Altoona’s Mansion Park, time to be determined.
The championship is the sixth for the Bulldogs, and second in three seasons.
The top-seeded Bulldogs scored on their first possession, with Jake Templin’s 24-yard pass to Jake Gehman making it 7-0 just 6 ½ minutes into the game.
Less than four minutes later Mack Saloka stripped quarterback David Payton of the ball, Rosa picked it up at the 33 and sprinted in for a 14-0 lead.
Wilson allowed just 163 total yards, and just 59 rushing yards on 24 attempts.
The third-seeded Rams (11-3) got their only touchdown in the final minute of the third quarter, after Micah Parsons blocked a punt, giving his team possession at the Wilson 27. A.J. Millar’s 18-yard TD pass to Payton made it 21-10 with 15 seconds left in the third quarter.
The Rams never got closer than Wilson’s 40-yard line after that.
Chris Osoria and Jon Fox had interceptions for Wilson, and Rosa had a pair of sacks.
