At Mertztown, Andrew Gernert struck out 13 in a complete game and Nick Austin went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs as the Cougars (1-0, 1-0) beat the Bullets (0-1, 1-1). Gernert and Dustin Smith each went 2-for-4 for Kutztown. John Dekovitch went 2-for-4 for Brandywine.
