Sixth-seeded Berks Catholic was defeated 3-0 by third-seeded Palmyra Monday in a Class 2A quarterfinal match at Manheim.
The Cougars (14-3), who were ranked No. 3 in 2A in the state coaches poll, won by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-19.
Jack Hagelbarger had 18 assists, three blocks, four digs, one ace and two kills; Ethan Stoney six kills, three blocks, three digs and one ace; Matt Hagelbarger three kills and three digs; Jordan Beitler eight digs and two kills; and Collin Balash eight digs for the Saints (13-6), who were eliminated in the quarterfinal round for the second year in a row.
Palmyra advances to Wednesday’s semifinal round to face second-seeded Manheim Central.
