Gov. Mifflin at Southwestern

At Red Lion, Colin Porter brought in the tying and go-ahead runs with a two-run single in the fifth as Berks League champion Gov. Mifflin saw its season end with a loss to No. 15 South Western (13-7) in a District 3-AAAA preliminary round game. Eric Wertz put Gov. Mifflin (14-10) ahead 2-1 with an RBI single in the fifth. South Western opened the bottom half of the inning by drawing a pair of walks and a passed ball before Porter came through with the two-run single. Matt Hockenberry, Eric Moul and Kurt Seiders combined on a four-hitter for South Western, with Seiders retiring Mifflin in order in the seventh for the save. Joe Palange and Brent Rhoads combined on a two-hitter for Mifflin.
