Neshaminy at Boyertown

District 1-AAAA first-round game Boyertown 2, Neshaminy 0: At Bear Stadium, Matt Dean and Devon Campbell combined on a one-hit shutout and the Bears (15-6) scratched out two runs in the first two innings to beat the Redskins (11-9) in a District 1 Class AAAA opener. Dean gave up only a Rick Brebner single and struck out six in his five innings, then Campbell struck out four of the six hitters he faced for the two-inning save. Boyertown, the No. 7 seed in the South, heads to No. 2 North seed Pennridge for a second-round game Wednesday. The Bears scored in the first Monday when Aaron Wilkins singled, stole second and scored on a throwing error. They added a second-inning run on Andrew Gehringer's RBI single.
