Gov. Mifflin at Southwestern

At York Memorial Park, Gov. Mifflin's Jess Epler gave up a run and four hits in the first three innings, then nothing more, striking out nine in a 2-1 victory over South Western. South Western (13-4) got its run in the first, Carissa Throckmorton scoring on a single after a leadoff triple. Epler gave up back to back singles in the third and South Western had runners on second and third with one out, but Epler got out of the jam with strikeouts. The Mustangs (14-6) took that momentum into the fourth when they scored both their runs. Epler walked and moved to third on a single by Alex Kissinger. Rachel Klein sacrificed Kissinger to second and both Epler and Kissinger scored on an error, a hard shot by Rachel Fritz that got through the shortstop. Mifflin advances to play Lebanon in Thursday's quarterfinal round.
