Boyertown at Pennridge

nPennridge 4, Boyertown 3: At Perkasie, Brad Herrman’s bases-loaded walk forced in the winning run for the Rams (17-6), ending a sloppy inning — and the season ­— for the Bears (15-7) in the second-round of the District 1 Class AAAA tournament. South No. 7 seed Boyertown out-hit North No. 2 Pennridge 11-4, led by a 2-for-3 effort from Ryan Zakszeski. The Bears also took a 3-0 lead with a three-run third highlighted by Ryan Schwager’s two-run single. But the Rams scored three in the fourth off Bears starter Aaron Wilkins. Tim Eversole’s two-run single made it 3-2, and Pennridge tied it on Peter Leatherman’s fielder’s-choice grounder. Devon Campbell pitched the last three innings for Boyertown, and allowed just two hits. But he got into trouble quickly in the seventh, which began with a Bears throwing error. Winning pitcher Dylan Tice then singled before Campbell walked the final two hitters. Pennridge advances to Friday’s quarterfinals against Conestoga.
