Highlights
At Forino Sports Complex, Dustin Smith and Andrew Gernert combined on a six-hitter as the Cougars (2-0, 3-1) turned back the Saints (1-1, 3-1). Smith struck out seven in 4 1/3 innings for the win. Gernert picked up the save with 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit. Kutztown scored four runs in the first on three walks and four hits: a double by Jake Fegely, an RBI triple by Gernert and RBI singles by Smith and Austin Marsteller. Berks Catholic starter Jake Lloyd settled after the first inning and allowed just one unearned run in his remaining five innings.
