Hempfield at Gov. Mifflin

At Ephrata, Hempfield (16-9) scored four unearned runs off two Gov. Mifflin errors and defeated the Mustangs (14-9) in a District 3-AAAA quarterfinal. The difference was the Black Knights' four-run fourth inning, during which they produced three singles and a bases-loaded walk, all with one out. Gov. Mifflin answered with two in the bottom half thanks to a Hempfield error to lead off the inning, followed by three consecutive singles. Zach Sczepkowski went 2-for-4 with a two-run single and Earl Kochel finished 2-for-3 to lead the Mustangs. Alec Miller threw a complete game six-hitter and Mike Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a two-run double for the Black Knights, who advance to the semifinals.
