Pope John Paul II took a 1-0 lead into the sixth thanks to an RBI triple by Amanda Butera in the first. Winning pitcher Jess Eldrigde struck out eight and blanked the Golden Panthers the rest of the way. Ashley Remington struck out seven and carried a 1-0 lead into the sixth before the Phantoms rallied. Gabby Simms went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored for Pope John Paul II.
