Selinsgrove at Hamburg

At Bloomsburg, Logan Hile and Ryan Reich combined on a four-hit shutout as the District 4 champion Seals (20-5) beat the District 3 runner-up Hamburg (21-8) in a PIAA Class 4A semifinal at Central Columbia High School. Hile struck out eight and walked three in five innings for the win, and Reich struck out three and walked one for the save. Selinsgrove advanced to the 4A championship game for the first time and will play Beaver, a 7-5 winner over East Pennsboro. Colby Gromlich pitched a complete game for the Hawks, allowing four hits, one walk and one earned run and striking out six. Hamburg loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh inning before Owen Zimmerman’s flyball was caught in deep left field for the final out. Austin Gromlich went 2-for-3 for the Hawks, who played in the state semifinals for the second time in four years. Blaise Zeiders hit an inside-the-park home run in the sixth for Selinsgrove’s only earned run.
