Daniel Boone at Twin Valley

At Twin Valley, Boone center fielder Liz Kangas threw out the would-be tying run at the plate for the game's final out, preserving the win for the Blazers (1-0, 2-0). The Raiders (0-1, 1-1) had runners on second and third with two outs when Cory Urkuski singled to center, scoring one run and setting up the dramatic play at the plate. Twin Valley jumped to a 2-0 lead when Kaitlin McGinnis hit an RBI triple, then scored on a wild pitch. But Boone tied it with two in the fourth and went ahead on Kangas' RBI single in the fifth. The Blazers pushed the lead to 4-2 on Samantha Mercer's RBI single in the sixth. Kangas had two hits for Boone, which got five innings of two-hit, one-run relief from winner Casie Baer.
