Hamburg at Schuylkill Valley

At Leesport, Deanne Atkinson singled home Brooke Hess with the winning run in the ninth inning as the Hawks (1-0, 1-0) opened the league season with a win over the Panthers (0-1, 1-1). Alyssa Hix went the distance for the win, walking six and striking out seven. Hess reached on a fielder's choice and moved up on a sacrifice. Hess went 2-for-5 and Jenna Horning went 2-for-4 for Hamburg. Catie Deiley went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs for Schuylkill Valley. Ashley Yeakley pitched the first eight innings for the Panthers.
