Hershey at Muhlenberg

District 3-AAA first round Brianne Huey went 3-for-3 and Ellen Polyniak had two hits and drove in three runs as fourth-seeded Muhlenberg cruised past 13th-seeded Hershey in a District 3 Class AAA first-round game at Lyons. The Muhls (18-5) moved onto the second round, in which they will face today's Greencastle-Antrim/Northeastern winner Friday, site and time to be determined. Hershey jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first, but Hillary Ammon's two-run single in the bottom of the second put Muhlenberg ahead 2-1. Am-mon finished with three RBIs. After the Trojans (14-8 tied it in the top of the third, the Muhls scored four times in their decisive half of the inning and were never threat-ened again. Polyniak and Allison Hangen had RBI singles in the inning. Polyniak also had a run-scoring single in a four-run sixth that fin-ished Hershey off. Muhlenberg drew three walks in that frame, and Kylie Feeney finished the barrage with a sacrifice fly that made it 12-2. Emily Vogel was solid on the mound, tossing a complete-game five-hitter and striking out eight.
