Highlights:District 3-AAA first round
At Shillington, the seventh-seeded Mustangs (16-5) got two goals and an assist from Mallory Fredericks and took a commanding 4-0 lead before the No. 10 Panthers (15-6-1) scored two late goals.
"Last one was our program's first district win," Mifflin coach Ed Deren said. "Now winning another one, my gosh. It's very surreal."
The win moved Mifflin a win away from its first PIAA berth, and because Class AAA advances seven of the final eight to states, the Mustangs will have at least three opportunities to qualify.
Mifflin plays second-seeded Hershey in a quarterfinal Saturday at 11 a.m. at Central Dauphin Middle School.
