Highlights:Berks champion Gov. Mifflin played three close games against North Allegheny, the top-ranked boys volleyball team in the state, but lost them all in a season-ending 3-0 defeat in the first round of the PIAA Class AAA Tournament at Central Cambria High School in Edensburg.

Coming off 3-0 losses in the District 3-AAA semifinals and consolation, the Mustangs lost 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 to the District 7 champion Tigers (16-1), who took over the top spot in the state coaches poll after upsetting previously unbeaten Penn Hills for the WPIAL title.

"I told the guys after the match to regroup after what happened at districts and to come out and play as a team like that and to push the top-ranked team in the state, they have nothing to hang their heads about," said Mifflin coach Matt Davis. "They proved they belonged in the tournament. They definitely belonged on the court with that team."

Jared Remlinger had six kills, an ace and four digs; Max Pearson had eight kills and three digs; Jimmy O'Leary had seven kills and two blocks; P.J. Gangwere and Nick Segner each had six kills; and Brett Campbell had 27 assists and five digs for Mifflin (18-4).
