Highlights:Rhoda Marsteller struck out 18 and doubled home the game’s only run, leading Kennard-Dale to a 1-0 shutout of Muhlenberg Thursday afternoon in a District 3 Class AAA state qualifier at Millersville University.
Marsteller’s one-out, first-inning double drove in catcher Laura DeVoe, who had singled. Marsteller then struck out the first nine hitters she faced on her way to a two-hitter.
The Muhls (19-6), whose season ended a win shy of the PIAA playoffs, got a gritty performance from hard-luck loser Katie Shaub, who scattered seven hits, struck out four and yielded only the first-inning run.
