Highlights:A Josh Gummo penalty kick in the 63rd minute broke a late tie, and Brandywine Heights added a late Steve Sedler goal to post a 4-2 win over visiting Schuylkill Valley in a Berks III showdown Tuesday night at Topton.
After a shaky start this fall, the preseason-favorite Bullets (5-0-1, 6-2-1) have settled down to win three straight and go unbeaten in their past four. Tuesday's win puts them three points ahead of the previously unbeaten Panthers (4-1, 6-1).
"It takes a little pressure off us," Brandywine Heights coach Steve Heebner said. "We're trying to figure out who we are.
"I think we realize we are a pretty good team if we play the way we're supposed to, and the last week or so I think we're finally playing the way we're supposed to."
Kyle Stoudt scored twice to give the Bullets a 2-1 lead at the break.
Sandwiched between's Stoudt's goals was a Nate Miller score for Schuylkill Valley, off a scramble following David Horton's throw-in, that tied the match at 1-all 34:07 into play.
But Stoudt's second goal 17 seconds later regained the lead for Brandywine.
The Panthers tied it again eight minutes into the second half on Justin Padinske's finish of a Brian Robertson free kick, but Gummo's PK 22:08 into the second made it 3-2, and Sedler scored to finish things off with just under five minutes to play.
