Reading High at Lower Dauphin (Boys soccer)
1st Half 2nd Half Final
Reading High 1 1 2
Lower Dauphin 1 0 1
Highlights:At Hershey, Reading High’s once-in-a-lifetime boys soccer team has brought home the school’s first district championship.

Omar Guzman scored on a penalty kick with 17:10 left in the second half to lift third-seeded Reading over No. 12 Lower Dauphin 2-1 in the District 3-AAA final at Hersheypark Stadium Saturday night.

Guzman was awarded the attempt after Bryan Franco was tackled hard at the edge of the box. His conversion completed the Red Knights’ come-from-behind victory.

Lower Dauphin, with a strong wind at its back, opened the scoring 1:20 into the first half. Matt Canis fired a shot into the corner of the net after a scramble for a loose ball.

Edwin Navas answered for Reading 23 minutes later with a blast from about 25 yards.

Reading’s victory completed a district championship sweep for Berks County. Fleetwood won Class AA and Kutztown took gold in Class A.

It’s the second time one league won all three titles since three classifications were formed in 2000. The Lancaster-Lebanon League did it in 2006.
