Highlights:Pope John Paul II opened the District 1-2A playoffs with an 18-3 win over visiting Chichester. Monica Rapchinski scored nine for the sixth-seeded Golden Panthers (13-5), who were playing in districts for the first time in school history.
PJP jumped to a 10-0 lead over the 11th-seeded Eagles (10-5), who got all of their goals from Maura Murray. Pope John Paul will play a quarterfinal contest on Saturday at a time and place to be determined.
