Highlights:At Hummelstown, Garret Pettis scored his third goal of the game 10:22 into overtime, lifting the 12th-seeded Falcons (11-7-2) past the 21st-seeded Raiders (12-7-1) in a District 3-AAA preliminary.
Twin Valley fell behind 2-0 behind a pair of first-half Pettis goals, but battled back to tie it on tallies by top scorers Josh Labik in the 60th minute and Erik Weber in the 70th minute. The Raiders were dominant for stretches, outshooting Lower Dauphin 15-9 and holding an overwhelming 13-1 advantage in corners.
But Pettis got loose in overtime. Taking a restart serve into the box from Brian Scott, Pettis touched the ball past a defender and scored from eight yards, ending Twin Valley’s season.
“I thought they outplayed us,” confessed Falcons coach Gerry Lynch, “except they made one mistake: They left Garret free, and he made them pay.”
