Highlights:District 3-A PIAA qualifying game
At Manheim Central, the Blue Jays (13-7-1) earned a berth in their second straight PIAA Tournament with a convincing state-qualifying win over the top-seeded Wildcats (21-3).
Holy Name, which finished as District 3’s third seed, will face District 6 champion Bishop Carroll (12-7-1) in a first-round Western-bracket game Tuesday, site and time to be determined.
Mark Yost and Ben Lane each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jays, who last season advanced to the state semifinals after winning their 3-A qualifier.
Anthony Guida broke a scoreless tie with his goal off a Lane feed 18:21 into the match, and Tommy Porrazzo finished the scoring off a Yost feed with 5:15 to play.
Adam Miller made eight saves to register the shutout against Halifax, which finished its season with two straight setbacks to Berks opponents after winning 21 of its first 22 matches.
