Highlights:PIAA Class A first round
At Wingate, Tommy Porrazzo scored his first scholastic hat trick and Mark Yost assisted on the first two goals as the Blue Jays (14-7-1) easily beat the District 6 champion Huskies in a PIAA Class A opener at Bald Eagle High School.
Holy Name advances to the state quarterfinals for the second straight season. It plays Seton LaSalle Saturday at a site and time to be deter-mined.
“We dominated in the first half, but we only dominated because we had the wind at our back,” said Holy Name coach Steve Miller. “And we got away from how we play soccer. We just started shooting the ball, and we couldn't find the back of the net.
“But in the second half, with the wind against us, we went back to playing better soccer.”
The match was scoreless at halftime, despite the Jays' early domi-nance. But Porrazzo quickly changed that, taking a Mark Yost through ball and converting to make it 1-0 just 15 seconds into the second half.
Porrazzo scored off another Yost feed 5 1/2 minutes later, then made it 3-0 off a Matt Banta pass with 22:44 to play.
Bishop Carroll avoided the shutout when Luke Paronish scored with 4:23 to play.
Holy Name outshot the Huskies 17-9 and had a commanding 13-5 ad-vantage in corners.
