At York, the Spartans (17-2) defeated the Panthers (15-4) in five games in the District 3 Class AA semifinals. Frank Melvin had 24 kills and one block for Schuylkill Valley. Andrew Lash had 34 assists, four digs, one ace and five kills, and Noah Butsack had 15 digs. The Panthers have qualified for states and will play a third-place match Friday for PIAA seeding.
