Wilson at Daniel Boone (Wrestling)
Final
Wilson 41
Daniel Boone 29
Highlights: An unlikely fall in the first bout sparked Wilson to a 42-29 win that knocked Daniel Boone out of the Berks Wrestling League playoffs. Seth Kramlich scored a fall at 170 pounds to get visiting Wilson off to a quick start Wednesday night. The Bulldogs (6-1, 8-4) went on to win the next three bouts to build a 23-0 lead over the shorthanded Blazers (5-2, 12-5). Needing a win to clinch the Berks I title, Daniel Boone was without two key starters because of injury, including two-time Berks 113-pound champion Gavin Richard. Daniel Boone, also without 160-pounder Devin Dolla, dropped into a third-place tie with Gov. Mifflin. Gov. Mifflin won the tiebreaker by virtue of defeating Daniel Boone earlier this month. Exeter claimed the Berks I title, its fourth in the last five years, with Wilson coming in second. The Berks playoffs will be Friday at Wyomissing. Bruce Vaughan followed Kramlich's fall with a technical fall before Jon Green-Solis and two-time county champion Josh Harkless scored falls for a 23-0 Wilson lead. Daniel Boone tried to stage a comeback with back-to-back decisions by Kyle Bernet at 285 and Brett Marchiano at 106. But Wilson took advantage of Richard's absence at 113 when Kelvin Rodriguez scored a fall there to boost Wilson's lead to 29-6. Close decisions by sophomores Dominic Jurado at 126 and Aiden Dojan at 138 helped Wilson maintain its lead. The defending Berks champion Bulldogs clinched the victory with a fall by Alex Sensenig at 145. Wilson will face Berks II third-place finisher Brandywine Heights Friday at 4:15 p.m. with the winner set to face Berks II champion Hamburg in the semifinals. Gov. Mifflin will take on Berks II runner-up Conrad Weiser at 4:15 with the winner advancing to face Exeter. The championship match is set for 8 p.m.
