Players To Watch
With a few games left, if you get a chance, go out and watch some talented IC players on other teams. Watch them on offense, defense, special teams. Stats don't always tell the true story. I see great crushing blocks and other things that don't show up in the stat book. Here are my favs from this season so far.

Hoke, Pottsville - Team is different without him.

McCarthy, Twin Valley - Probably the most electrifying open field runner I've seen in awhile.

Ciabattoni, Holy Name - What a beast.

Baugh, Central - Also dangerous in the open field.

Montiero, Boone - Real deal.

Keeley, Boone - Good receiver.

Fox, Muhlenberg - See above.

Ernst, Hamburg - What a workhorse.

Leymeister, Pottsville - Just liked watching this kid.

Unterkoefler, Exeter - Probably best all around talent in IC.

Hughes, Mifflin - Another all around talent.

Fiorello, TV - Had to throw a strong legged kicker in here.

Haven't seen all the teams yet.

RE: Players To Watch
I love to watch those two/three/four way players. The guys that don't leave the field and battle through everything, really impress me. With the way teams platoon these days, we don't get to see how good some of these young men could be.

I may be old school, but I love to see a kid leave it all on the field and walk off looking like he's been through a war and has nothing left to give.

RE: Players To Watch
Brett, I look at the list and they are all at the top of some statistical category, not a single limeman or defensive standout among them! You should have done a little more homework because there are a lot of great players out there that no one is talking about. In fact some of those listed have piled up numbers against weak teams, only to be shut down by strong defenses.

RE: Players To Watch
This is my list...not yours. You can make your own. Why does it matter if they are at the top of the stats column? They stand out either way. If a QB throws for 300 yards and 3 TDs - I would say he is a player I liked to watch. The defensive list was coming at a later date. Like I said I have not seen all the teams but plan on it. Homework? Again, this is MY list.

RE: Players To Watch
It doesn't matter that they're at the top of the stats, but why say "Stats don't always tell the true story. I see great crushing blocks and other things that don't show up in the stat book." if all you're going to do is list players that everybody already knows?

What I'm saying is that anyone can put up big numbers against weak teams. Others are products of a system, like QB & receivers in a wide open offense like Muhlenberg or Boone. Yes, they're fun to watch but that doesn't mean they are the best. Great players will produce when it counts - game on the line against a good team.

Here's my list so far:

McCarthy, TV - clutch player, plays twice his size.

Haggerty, Mifflin - one of the top defensive players in the county, not too bad on offense either.

Grant, Wyo - an anchor on an extremely underrated defense, delivers big hits every game.

Unterkoeffler, Exeter - very talented, one of the bright spots on a struggling team.

Weaver, Wilson - the leader of an elite defense.

Fegley, Wilson - at this point, the only player more electrifying in the open field than McCarthy.

Hughes, Mifflin - a danger wherever he lines up.

K-Town

McLellen- Great offense and Defense

Galczynski- Great leader, better at running back

Schappell- Great Hands

Moyer- Hard Hitter under used.

Weinman- Great offense and Defense.

These guys are the heart and soul of this Team.
