Twin Valley at Solanco

Grace Marsalo threw a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits and one walk with ten strikeouts to lead Twin Valley past Solanco Tuesday in a District 3 Class 5A semifinal at Warwick. Emily Schumacher's two-out double in the fifth inning broke a scoreless tie, driving Sofia Palyan home to put the Raiders ahead 1-0. After Marsalo was intentionally walked and Ashlynn Lennon was hit by a pitch, a bases-loaded walk by Hannah Norton forced Schumacher home to make it 2-0. Solanco had runners at second and third with two outs in the bottom of the seventh before Marsalo got a strikeout to end it. Marsalo and Norton each went 2-for-3 for Twin Valley. Hannah Phillips went 2-for-3 for Solanco. Twin Valley advances to the championship round to face Lampeter-Strasburg Wednesday at Lebanon Valley College at 4 p.m.
