Bekah Slattery struck out 13 in a two-hitter and Daniel Boone hung on to defeat Chambersburg 3-2 Tuesday in a District 3-AAAA first-round softball game at Mechanicsburg's Creekview Park.
The 11th-seeded Blazers (17-6) scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.
The sixth-seeded Trojans (14-7) answered with a run in the fourth and scored one in the bottom of the seventh before Slattery cut the rally short with her last two strikeouts and the potential tying run on second.
Slattery was 3-for-4 with a run scored, Mikaela Ballmer went 2-for-3 with a triple and run scored and Savannah Toth went 2-for-3 for Daniel Boone.
The victory sends Daniel Boone to the quarterfinals Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Millersville University to face 14th-seeded Warwick (13-8), a 3-0 winner over No. 3 Central York.
