Highlights:
At Geigle Complex, Yamil Echavarria and Marcus Dawkins sparked a fast start as the Red Knights (16-3) breezed past the Bears (4-15) in a non-league game, 58-45.
The game was later awarded to Boyertown as a forfeit when it was learned that Reading High had used an inelligible player.
Echavarria scored 10 points and Dawkins eight in the first quarter as Reading bolted to a 25-11 lead at the first rest.
Dawkins finished with a game-high 23 points, going 10-for-10 at the line. Echavarria finished with 18.
Reading coach Tim Redding called the first half the best the Knights have played in terms of displaying solid fundamentals.
"I was very pleased with the way we hustled, and the way we were technically sound in the first half," Redding said.
Redding was also pleased to see most of his backup players get plenty of playing time. Thirteen Reading players saw time.
Redding said that's especially important now that Trenity Burdine has been lost for the season and point guard Jordan Miranda is out with an ankle injury.
Burdine has a broken bone in his hand and will not return this season.
Derek Hodges scored 13 points to lead the Bears.
The win was the sixth straight for the Red Knights.
