Highlights: At Alvernia, Maria Wendt sparked a big closing rush in the first half as the Cardinals (1-0, 2-2) shook off a sluggish start to beat the Mounts (0-1, 2-2).

Antietam led 11-9 in the second quarter before Central responded by scoring the final nine points of the half. Wendt had three points in that run and Megan Serafin added a three-point play.

The Cards broke it open with a 20-2 third-quarter advantage.

Wendt finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds

and five steals.

Prior to the game Central Catholic observed a moment of silence and said a prayer for former principal Vince Shemanski, who died on Wednesday.
