Highlights:
Sam Marrella stole the ball and hit a lay-up to put the Bulldogs (24-4) up by a point with just over a minute left, as the Bulldogs held on to defeat the Bearcats (23-6) 59-57 to finish third place in the District 3-AAAA tournament.
It was a close game heading into the fourth quarter until Marrella nailed the 2-pointer near the minute mark to put Wilson up 53-52. Marrella finished with eight points and was 4-4 from the free throw line in the fourth to clinch the game for Wilson. York did not take the lead after Marrella’s shot.
“I’m proud of the kids,” said head coach Matt Coldren. “They battled against a team that was more athletic than us. Even the kids who came off the bench battled hard for us. It was a great win for the program and a great team effort.”
Jereme Good led all Bulldogs scorers with a career-high 22 points. Good spread his point total evenly throughout the game, scoring 11 points in each half. Also leading Wilson scorers was Tyler Beck, who scored 11 points.”
Wilson will open up play in the PIAA tournament on Saturday, March 13 against the fifth-placed team from District 1.
