Highlights: At Hummelstown, the Red Knights (19-10) fell into an early hole and never recovered while dropping the District 3-AAAA first-round game against the Black Knights (20-4).

Fourth-seeded Hempfield, powered by three steal-and-score breaks by guard Steph Graver, raced to an early 8-0 lead and never trailed. Fourth-seeded Reading High crawled to within one at 14-13 on a Kanisha Edwards 3-pointer early in the second, but the Black Knights led by eight at halftime, 19 after three and by as many as 25 in the fourth.

Analicia Evans scored a game-high 21 points for Hempfield and Deva’Nyar Workman’s 12 points paced Reading High, whose Berks-championship season ended.
