Highlights:
Isaac Lutz's off-balanced 3-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark, allowing unbeaten Pottsville to escape with a 49-46 non-league victory tonight at Wolf Gymnasium.
The Saints (10-8) rallied from 11 down after three quarters to make it a one-possession game with 2 1/2 minutes to play, after Pop Lacey's steal and layup made it 45-42.
Pottsville's Jordan Melochick answered at the line, converting a pair of one-and-ones to push the Crimson Tide (19-0) lead to 49-44 with 1:21 left.
The Tide left the door open for the Saints when Travis Blankenhorn missed both ends of a bonus with 13 seconds left.
Lutz finished with 19 points and four assists and came up with a pair of huge steals in the fourth quarter, when the Saints forced five turnovers.
Eli Nabholz, Pottsville's 6-5 center, hurt the Saints with 19 points, including four 3-pointers.
Melochick finished with 14 points and Blankenhorn 13.
Pop Lacey had 11 points and Connor Jack had nine points, six rebounds and four blocked shots for the Saints.
Prior to this game, Pottsville's closest contest was a 15-win over Wilson in early December.
The loss snapped Berks Catholic's six-game winning streak.
