Highlights: The Boyertown girls basketball team lost its first game of the season on Wednesday night, 45-38 to visiting Spring-Ford in the second round of the District 1-AAAA playoffs.

The Rams (16-8), who led the entire way except for a 2-2 tie and by as many as 16 points early in the fourth quarter, advanced to the quarterfinals and clinched a PIAA berth with the win. Boyertown (25-1) will need to win two playback games to make it to states.

Ali Bauman led the Bears, who will host Bishop Shanahan on Saturday, with 10 points and Jordan Webb scored seven. Maggie Locke topped the Rams with 11 points.
