Highlights: Tyler Worrell scored a team-high 16 points and Cody Mish hit three big buckets down the stretch to lift No. 8 Schuylkill Valley over No. 9 Biglerville 50-44 in a District 3 Class 4A first-round game at Leesport.

The Panthers (15-9) advance to a quarterfinal Thursday at 7 at Berks Catholic, the top seed.

The Panthers trailed by as many as seven points in the third quarter before turning up their defensive pressure, which forced six fourth-quarter turnovers and 15 overall.

Ryan Worrell had 11 points and eight rebounds and Mish had nine points, six rebounds and three assists for the Panthers.

Noah Ayers scored a game-high 19 for the Canners (13-10), who were eliminated.

Issac Horne hit a big 3-pointer with 5:40 left to snap a 40-40 tie and give the Panthers the lead for good.
