Highlights:
Casey Jack scored a career-high 22 points, including all of Berks Catholic's 15 second-quarter points, as the top-seeded Saints topped No. 8 Schuylkill Valley 53-39 in a District 3 Class 4A quarterfinal at Wolf Gymnasium.
The Saints (20-6) advance to face No. 4 Middletown Monday at Garden Spot at 8.
The victory clinched a PIAA Tournament berth for the Saints for the fifth time in their six seasons. They missed the tournament last season.
The Panthers (15-10) remain alive for a state berth, which they can clinch with a win Monday against No. 5 Eastern York at Milton Hershey at 8. The loser of that game will be eliminated.
Jack went 0-for-6 from the floor in the first quarter before turning it around in the second, when he went 5-for-5, including three 3's. He had 17 points by halftime.
Two free throws by Jack gave the Saints a 6-4 lead midway through the first quarter and they led the rest of the way.
Bryce Calloway had 13 points for Berks Catholic.
Cody Mish scored 14 to lead the Panthers.
