Highlights: Chris Whitaker’s basket with 31 seconds left gave Harrisburg the lead for good and Reading failed to score on three subsequent possessions in losing in a District 3 Class 6 A semifinal before over 6,300 at Giant Center.

The top-seeded Red Knights (24-3) stormed back from a 14-point deficit to pull ahead midway through the final period.

They led 56-52 after Jose Genoa’s free throw with 1:43 left but scored just two more points, on free throws by Lonnie Walker IV.

The fourth-seeded Cougars (18-6) advance to meet Hempfield in the district title game Saturday.

The Red Knights will play Lebanon in the third-place game.

Walker finished with a game-high 19 points but made just 6-of-17 shots.

Tyrone Nesby IV had 17 points for Reading.

Whitaker finished with a team-high 16.

The loss snapped Reading’s 21-game winning streak.
