Highlights:
At Kutztown, Lorencz Jean-Baptiste scored his 1,000th career point and the Cougars (19-2) held off the Indians (15-7) and unofficially clinched a PIAA berth in the process. Upper Perkiomen, the Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division champion, had a chance to tie it with a late 3-point attempt, but missed and Brayden Eck made two free throws with five seconds left to clinch the victory. Jean-Baptiste scored on a three-points play on a steal and layup in the second quarter to give him 1,002 points. He finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds and has 1,011 career points. Eck finished with 15 points for the Cougars, who led the entire game -- ahead 15-9 after a quarter, 33-27 at halftime and 45-37 entering the final quarter. The victory virtually assures the Cougars a top two finish in District 3 Class 3A (they currently lead the power ratings). The top two teams in 3A receive byes into the semifinals and the top four finishers qualify for the PIAA tournament. Ryan Kendra had 13 points, Sean Boyle and Will Walker each 11 for the Indians. Liam Boyle, who had a school-record 47 in his last game, was held to six points.
