Highlights:
Second-seeded Berks Catholic fought through some early struggles to beat third-seeded Middletown 51-33 in a District 3 Class 4A semifinal at Penn Manor.
The Saints (25-2) advance to the district title game Thursday at Giant Center at 7, against No. 9 Bishop McDevitt.
The Saints led just 23-21 at the half and were struggling against the Blue Raiders' triangle-and-two defense but countered with a great defensive effort of their own to record their 21st straight win, matching a school record.
Luis Garcia finished with a game-high 15 points, despite playing the fourth quarter with four fouls.
Tre Dabney had 11 points and turned in another standout defensive effort, limiting Middletown's leading scorer, Ryan Hughes, to 11 points, and just two in the second half.
Keba Mitchell finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks and played the entire second half without drawing a foul after being called for three in the first half.
The Saints began to pull away in the third quarter as the Blue Raiders (16-7) made just 1-of-13 shots from the field.
Berks Catholic led 35-26 late in the third quarter and by 14 with 4 1/2 minutes to go.
The Saints won back-to-back district championships in their first two seasons, 2012 and 2013, but have not returned the finals since.
