Highlights:
Ricki Lopez scored eight fourth-quarter points as top-seeded Reading High held off third-seeded Chambersburg 46-43 today in the District 3 Class 6A championship game at Giant Center.
Lopez and Wesley Butler each scored 10 points for the Red Knights (24-4), who recorded their district-record 21st championship and second in three seasons under head coach Rick Perez.
Reading led by 15 points in the third quarter before seeing the Trojans (19-5) pull within two in the final minute.
Noah Beidel's 3-pointer with 4.4 seconds left pulled Chambersburg within 46-43.
The Red Knights stormed the court after the buzzer sounded following R.J. Dixon's missed foul shot with 1.5 seconds left, but the officials put seven-tenths of a second back on the clock and sent Chambersburg's Tyler Collier to the line for a one-and-one.
He missed the front end, ending the game.
Beidel hit three 3-pointers in the final quarter as the Trojans rallied from a 34-19, third-quarter deficit to pull within 42-40 with 33 seconds left.
The Red Knights open the state playoffs next Saturday against the 10th-place finisher from District 1, Bensalem.
