Highlights: At Hamburg, Jordan Sands scored a game-high 15 points and freshman Derek Gaul made a big impact off the bench as the Panthers (2-0, 4-2) beat the Hawks (0-1, 3-3).

Sands had seven points and Gaul six in the first quarter as the Panthers took an 18-6 lead heading into the second quarter.

Gaul, who entered when Matt Modrick picked up two early fouls, finished with 12 points.

Modrick also finished with 12 points.

Modrick hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as the Panthers began to pull away.
