Highlights: At Downingtown, the Bulldogs (15-3) missed an off-balanced shot in the lane as time expired in a loss to the Cougars (16-1) in a battle of two of the state's top Class AAAA teams.

Downingtown East, No. 2 in the latest Patriot-News rankings, led 20-16 at halftime and scored the first five points of the second half to open a 25-16 lead.

Wilson, ranked No. 7, whittled away at the lead throughout the second half and closed to within a point with under a minute left when Amanda Sawlsville hit two free throws.

After Downingtown East missed a free throw with 17 seconds left, Vanessa Rivera got off a contested shot in the lane that wouldn't fall.

Sam Simcox scored 12 points to lead Wilson and Rivera scored nine.
