Highlights: Max Hurleman hit six free throws in the final 3 1/2 minutes and scored a game-high 21 points as Wyomissing defeated Berks Catholic Monday in a Berks Conference quarterfinal at Gov. Mifflin Intermediate.

The seventh-seeded Spartans (17-6) beat the second-seeded Saints (12-9) for the first time in three meetings this season.

Wyomissing advances to play sixth-seeded Gov. Mifflin Wednesday in the semifinals at Santander Arena.

The Saints had never lost to the Spartans, winning the first 16 meetings.

Hurleman went to the bench with four fouls with 4:26 left in the third quarter and Wyomissing leading 28-25, but the Spartans played well without their leading scorer on the floor.

They actually increased their lead, to 35-27, during the seven-plus minutes Hurleman was on the bench.

He returned with 5:04 remaining and scored Wyomissing's final six points, all from the foul line.
