Highlights: Even with the county’s leading scorer, Stevie Mitchell, held in check for much of the first half, Wilson still had little trouble reaching the Berks Conference championship game.

Evin Timochenko and Mitchell’s other teammates picked up the slack as the Bulldogs eased past Reading High 68-53 Wednesday night in a semifinal at Santander Arena.

Mitchell’s shots weren’t falling early, but the irrepressible junior guard still finished with a game-high 22 points to lead the top-seeded Bulldogs into Friday’s title game.

Mitchell didn’t score in the first quarter and didn’t sink his first field goal until two minutes into the second half.

That didn’t hinder the Bulldogs (23-1). Timochenko took over late in the first quarter with three straight baskets. When Ryan Strobel knocked down a 3-pointer, Wilson was ahead for good at 13-9.

The Bulldogs began to stretch the lead early in the second quarter as Mitchell made his way to the foul line, and led by as many as 16 points late in the game.
